Sin e. Pub. 8 Coburg St, Victorian Quarter, Cork, T23 KF5N Nice pub with snugs and open area for a session.
I am jealous man, sounds like a great time!
Thank you 🙏 for breaking it down!!!!!
Awesome
Fáilte 🍀
What about feadóg?
You've got to go to Dingle! Always some good sessions there.
Awesome ~ I wish I were there with you ! Thanks for the post ! I’m so glad that I’m getting you on the new big screen iPad + elitehood stand ! 🎉
So are low whistles just an inferior version of the flute?
Is it possible to make a case for Irish flutes from a cheap classical flute?
Nice... Enjoy your time... And let us know when you're in Mayo.
Looks like so far in Mayo it's gonna be the Friday the 12th in Killala - The Arch Bar
@@whistletutor savage...
Thanks _. did you have them all on an electric heating pad to keep them all warmed up ? @harpinhankhogan😊
I liked the tone of the lír the most, but I'm going to buy a generation, because I ain't gonna spend money on something I'm going to use for one song.
The AirBnB 😮
Beautiful pictures I have misplaced. I won’t say lost my favorite Tony Dixon, aluminum plastic whistle but I watch your videos on the big screen TV and might I suggest if you’re in the Buren pop over to the perfumery where they make perfumes because they’ve got the greatest sandwich shop and beautiful little gardens. It’s a wonderful thing to see. You could even pull out your little whistle and play a tune from that garden in front of the place Hank Hogan in California.
Try Indian classical flute E base scale
Yep... Where and when
@@damianmcneely7884 any relation to the fab McNeely Trad music shop in north dublin?
@@tobingj no.. afraid not... Or at least not that I know of?
But there were over 100 1st cousins at my father's level in the family so who knows
I bought a bodhran drum first and while finding youtube lessons for the bodhran i came across tutorials for tin whistle yours included and ordered a cheap and cheerful clarkes sweettone straight away, i absolutely love messing about trying to learn to play it, it is so much fun.
I love your videos! What is a good whistle to start with? I have always been a fan of…..woodwinds? lol don’t know what to start with.
Why am I seeing this? I watched the whole thing though.
ive never seen this type of content but i feel so informed
play the sponge bob song now
When, where are the gigs in mayo??
So the song is in F? Love it!! Love your videos Sean!
Thanks !Also liked watching your video about oiling the wooden flute, and got some bore oil & cork grease. Have you ever made one about cleaning whistles ?
OK
My Killarney has the weird first octave C. I use holes 2 and 3 with my left hand and holes 1 and 3 from my right hand. I hate this! Why can’t all makers nail that left hand holes 2 and 3 only? Because of this, I primarily use my Tony Dixon tunable black plastic whistle. Perfect left 2 and 3 C.
I think you're speaking of cross fingering the C natural. That's when you cover the A and G holes only to play the C natural note. I have found that half-holing the B hole (that's the very top hole) plays the best C natural. However, half-holing (that's when you cover only half the hole with your finger) can be tricky, especially when your trying to half-hole while staying in the rhythm of a tune. It takes a lot of daily practice. The Tony Dixon Trad Cupro, DX004, and DX005 are the only whistles I know of where cross fingering the B and G holes and half-fingering the A hole produce the exact same C natural note.
@@tim6151 my Tony Dixon tunable black plastic D plays a great C natural with just the A and G holes covered. This whistle is about 20 years old. My brass Killarney D can’t play a C natural like that. I don’t understand why not? And it’s a more expensive whistle.
Im having trouble with the High b on all my whistles how do i practice it?
My Killarney high D has that stupid cross fingered C and I hate that. I find myself using my tunable black plastic Tony Dixon high D. Love it!

Sean, I have a question for you. When learning reels, jigs and hornpipes, I’ve noticed there are in some cases many versions of the same tune. If one goes to a session, how do you know what version of the tune will be played? Thanks!
It’s not unusual to see the mandolin in sessions in Ireland, though they struggle to be heard. I think the problem over here is the banjo, which crowds out other instruments, especially if there’s more than one banjo player present.
What’s the bed music on this video? I dig it quite a bit
Fantastic ❤
I ordered one from Gary just to have and I ended up playing it at every single gig. Great whistle!
I prefer the sound of brass whistles over other choices but I don't like the feel of brass. Anyone else have that quirk? Anyway, a powder coated brass is the answer for me. That's one reason for the Wild Irish in addition to the Kilarney.
One of my favorite reels, my son says its the only one I play. Learned it from Ryan Duns youtube years ago
Metal=Lir, wood=Abell
What about if you just took the bottom off of the flute?
I'm mainly a recorder player but have purchased an old keyed "german flute" and like the sound of this instrument very much. Your advice is helpful, so thank you for the video
❤
... or you could play it on an A whistle!
Super impressed by your extremely smooth slides!! Excellent rendition 🎉
Are you a fan of Hurling, Gaelic Football, or both? Will you be attending a match while there? Have a great trip.
Thanks!
The O’Neills Outlet Store is located: Long Mile Road, Dublin 12, D12 EV25, Ireland Love to see you wearing a USGAA kit! I play Hurling in NY and was excited to see you representing the GAA in the USA
Last year you visited my hometown of Westport & this year, if you visit this shop, you’ll be in my neighbourhood of Walkinstown where I lived for many years (& still own a house). We are destined to meet one day 😁 & I reckon I’ll have no bother recognizing you because you’re face spends a lot of time paused on my screen 😂🤣⏸️
Can you gift me one I'll be so thankful for you 💗 💓😊
What’s your take on Goldfinch whistles? They’re roughly 95 USD.
I have lots of goldfinch. I love them...😊
Anthony Hinnegan for Titanic. Eric Rigler did the Uillean pipes for the movie.
Gorgeous tune and such gentle but swingy playing…
